“One of the most important things you can do on this earth is to let people know they are not alone.”

AND most importantly being a kind friend.
During the last few months, Covid-19 has been a scary, eye-opening experience, and has changed all of our lives.
It has stopped many of us in our tracks and made us more cautious. Even admist all the worry and uncertainty there have been some positive aspects, such as allowing us the spend precious time with family/friends and those we live with. Much compromise and sacrifice has been made on all of our day-to-day activities, but a slower pace of life, the opportunity to stop and breathe, and get a bit of down time, has also provided moments of relief and comfort.
Some incredible people have taken it upon themselves to spread some joy during the long drawn-out lockdown to help keep us all smiling.
One of those is the inspiring Mary Taylor (@covid19runner), who has been running around Silsden in fancy dress every day, completing many miles. Costumes have ranged from Wonder Woman and Cat Woman, to Optimus Prime, and even the TARDIS from Doctor Who, to name just a few!

Mary’s main aim was to try and spread some joy during this difficult time by doing daily exercise. The 38 year old mum from Silsden has raised £1,627 through Just Giving for the NHS so far, with proceeds to be donated to Airedale Hospital. Mary has been awarded an “unsung hero” award by the local MP Robbie Moore, and is set to be Silsden’s “virtual” Gala Queen in July.
So far Mary has ran for 66 days in 66 different fancy dress outfits and hopes to achieve 100 days in 100 different outfits. Look out for Mary on her next run and give her a wave!

It was with great sadness that we cancelled our live events, but needs must. However, we have started bringing our live events to YOU, in collaboration with some wonderfully talented people.
On Friday 22 May 2020 at 8pm we went live for our very first exclusive live stream gig!
We had the lovely Elles Bailey and the passionate Mike Ross. Mike was able to show case his new album and give the viewers a taste of what he had created. It was an eventful evening with many people joining us. This was open to all and tickets were available to purchase at TicketSource. The response was amazing. Here’s a little taster of Mike’s set…

While we hope to open our doors as soon as possible, our priority is of course to do so safely. In the meantime, we hope to “see” you at a virtual gig soon.
We’re all in this together. Stay safe, Silsden!
